The successor to one of Sony’s wildly popular WH-1000XM4 series wireless noise-canceling headphones, the WH-1000XM5 has been launched with some particular changes and improvements at a higher price tag.
Now the WH-1000XM5 has a more cylindrical design than the WH-1000XM4, with the headband becoming thinner due to its step-less sliding design and silent joints.
The earcups now rotate sideways rather inwards like their previous model, due to which the WH-1000XM5 comes in a larger carrying case, which almost looks like a small backpack.
The WH-1000XM5 is equipped with new 8-microphone technology with QN1 audio and a V1 integrated processor to offer better noise-canceling performance than its predecessor, especially in mid and high frequencies. This headphone also has an ambient sound mode.
Sony’s new wireless noise-canceling headphone also comes with brand new drivers. However, the new drivers are smaller than the ones on the previous model, but Sony claims the new drivers will offer natural sound output with a better high-frequency response.
The WH-1000XM5 has the same 30 hours of long battery life as the last generation WH-1000XM4.
